MOULDTECH is a well-balanced blend of organic acids and their salts (mainly propionic acid). The product inhibits a broad range of moulds, reduces the risk of mycotoxin production and secures nutritional quality of the feed.
Organic acids are an effective tool to control mould growth in the feed. To kill moulds the acids do not only need to pass the cell membrane but also the outer cell wall. Propionic acid deals in a more effective way with this ‘double barrier’. Inside the mould, organic acids dissociate decreasing the intracellular pH. This will inhibit glycolysis (energy production) and ultimately kill the mould.
